Quick early update.
One of my favorite IPs has come out with a full CGI movie available at http://ultramarinesthemovie.com.
I’m pretty pumped to see this movie and so much so that I actually bought the movie and I’m awaiting it’s delivery as we speak. If the movie is half as good as the trailers it’ll be worth the wait.

Hi Everybody!!!
It’s been awhile since I updated the blog, apologies for that. Real Life things came and went and now I have a bit more free time and things to talk about.
Probably the biggest change is that I am now single again. The now EX felt that didn’t care for me in a manner to go through Xmas and my birthday which is shortly after. To put it bluntly it was a complete surprise given how not 24 hours earlier we had a great evening/night together and there had been no indication that she felt that way. None of our conversations previously nor were there any fights. Up till that conversation there had talk about doing things together.
Reflecting on it, I can’t say I’m horribly surprised given some of the personal information she disclosed, on that the only thing I’ll say is that she’s never had a successful relationship last more than 6 months (her words not mine). So perhaps the whole Xmas season (which has special meaning to her) may have just thrown her for loops.
If this had of happened in a previous one I think I’d be taking it a lot worse, but I can’t say I have any negative feelings about it. I miss her, and still the odd time someone says something or something happens and it reminds me of her.
Ok enough of the sappy BS. You don’t read my blog to hear me give up my sorrows in text. That shit is for pussies I am right or am I right!

EVE Online: Still remains a great way to kill time, the corporation I am involved with made the mistake of promoting me to ‘Director’ which is like saying I’m the President to the CEO or some shit I guess. Either way I can boss around more peons now. w00h00!
The corp itself has moved to a new alliance called ‘Fatal Ascension’ which is established itself in Cloud Ring (0.0). The alliance has a significant stake here as we have SOV over a number of good systems. There has been some pretty awesome PVP as well. From Small gang tactical, to large fleets number in the 250-400 pilot range.
Our current attention is to cause mayhem into the ‘Fountain’ area, this is mainly to disrupt and annoy the fucking piss out of IT and their PET alliances. So far it’s working, in 2 large fleet battles we’ve smashed their cocks all the way up and threw their ears. They’ve lost roughly 300+ ships to our 50+ ships (rough estimates) and the value being in excess of 7x times the value in ISK (in game currency) lost to ours. We’ve also attacked their staging jump bridges and other resources of strategic value.
The main PVP fleet of IT is down south helping their friends defend against an unrelated alliance, so we’re taking advantageof it to our complete enjoyment so far. 
Music wise, I’ve got my hands on the latest Daft Punk cuts for ‘Tron: Legacy’ and it’s very tight. The beats are amazing, and if I close my eyes can visualize things from TRON. I more a metalhead but this shit is good.
So, on Saturday I’m trying to be a good home owner and attempting to cut the grass in my yard. Now I had spent a fair amount of $$ on a new Cub Cadet push mower since I do have a decent size yard. So I get about half way done and I’m thinking to myself that I deserve a break and a cold beer. So off I go and enjoy my ice cold beer, but alas I need to finish the back yard area, so I go to start the thing and well fuck the god damn recoil starter line breaks on me, now I don’t know about you but when I pay good money for a so-called reliable lawn mower I don’t expect the f’ing cord to break after just a a few months of usage, with that I say fuck it and go and push the mower away and leave the grass for now. It’s the backyard and noone driving by will see it so fuck it.
Monday rolls around and I head to Home Depot and grab a replacement stringy thing so the adventure tonight will be taking the recoiler off the lawn mower and attempting to replace the stringy thing so I can hopefully finish the grass at some point before it grows above my kneecaps.
Gaming wise, not much to report other than EVE is still the game of choice for time. The corp I’m in is still in a war with another after we took up in the same NPC station. So far they are a bunch of fucking pussies, just doing stupid station camps and rarely trying anything except when they out number us 6-8 to 1. When we do have even numbers they dock up and disappear. Though we’ve had our chances we’ve ganked them a few times.
Semi-related most of us cool active people have located to a low sec area and have begun making our living down there, and the other corp at war with us is scared shitless to follow us and have remained in high sec.
In personal ship news I’ve lost a few drakes recently due to silliness and not being properly prepared, one guy in low sec who we’ve come to chat with a few times as we’ve left him alone while he does his thing gave me some good tips on being better prepared so I’m looking forward to the next PVP op to see if I can actually put it to work.
Oh movie news wise, saw the new Will Ferrel movie ‘The Other Guys’ with the gf at the theatre and it was pretty enjoyable for a comedy, not really my bucket of beer but she enjoyed it and sometimes that’s worth it. =)

Ok, so I’ve been lazy and neglected the blog. My BAD so eat me!
So onto an irrational topic, how to manage game time versus girl friend time. It’s been awhile since I’ve been in a good relationship so maybe it’s some unseated completely irrational brain cell causing the trouble, but I find myself almost like torn between hanging on vent with Mark and doing shit online and hanging out with the gf! I guess I’ll just suffer and balance the times and see what happens.
This week is gonna suck, cause her b’day is on Aug 15, but there is a dinner thing Thursday and I’m pretty sure she expects to spend the entire weekend together since the 15th is a Sunday. I think she takes her B’day way to seriously. Me I’m happy with a few drinks that night and what ever happens happens.
So now I’m likely stuck doing something the entire weekend and leaving me no personal time, and I like my me time.
Gaming wise, I’ve tried out Starcraft 2 and for the first time that I can remember I’ve stopped playing a Blizzard game without completing it. I’m not sure what it is, but SC2 just doesn’t draw me in like previous games have that Blizz has released. Now granted I’ve only played the single-player but I’m really disappointed in it. Only 1 mission so far has actually impressed me and you can tell they stole the idea from other people. That said mission is the Endless Zombie missions and has a Day/Night cycle, where you kill shit in the surrounding town during the day and then bunker up during the night in your base fending off endless streams of zombies.
If I had to rate it, I’d give it a slightly decent backyard fire. Nothing worth calling the fire department over though.
Ok, hmm where to start?
Lets start at the beach, sooooo….. Sunday rolls around and the lady friend would like to go to the beach, I have no plans so I’m game. We hit the only decent local one and it’s not overly crowded which is good. Though to be honest given my farmers tan I still feel like a bit of a beached white whale with just shorts on. Anyways let this be a cautious warning to all guys new into relationships, if the lady packs 3-4 Cosmopolitan magazines, be prepared for some crazy questions while you are there.
I ended up taking some 50 questions on preferences from whether I prefer her in nothing but a dress shirt or sexy lingerie. My answer is either! =)
It wasn’t all bad but damn talk about having to answer quick and fast and given her occupation there’s no chance to give a bullshit answer either to dodge some of the more personal ones.
Alien Swarm, it’s a combination of arcade style contra and syndicate (old PC game). It’s 4 player coop, pick your toon, pick your primary, secondary weapons, and a utility item and off you go to find out what happened all the while an alien swarm is trying to eat you! Oh and toss in some Starship Troopers feel as well.
I had a chance to play for an hour or so last night, and in something almost unheard of I got up 30 mins early to play a bit more before work! So far, graphics are great, are they top notch bleeding edge? Nope, but they fit the game really well. Environments are nice, but nothing mind blowing, IE no breakable walls etc. Aliens so far from what I’ve seen are limited in the types but are well done.
Weapon selection is nice, I’m a huge fan of the shotgun right now. Talk about gibbing the aliens at close range.
Rating? Hotter than a whore house in August!

Ok, first item on the agenda to address is ‘The Last AirBender’ movie which I just saw yesterday in the threatres in 3d. 1st point graphics and visuals are quite nice. However the dialogue and acting are terrible! The dialogue was so bad, it was written in such a dumb downed manner that it had to be targeted at 4-6 year olds. Given this day and age I strongly suspect that even 4-6 year olds would be offended by the dialogue.
Given how bad the dialogue was I think this really played a huge role in how bad the acting was, that given the shitty dialogue the actors had no chance to actually breathe life into their characters.
This combination totally killed my overall enjoyment of the movie. Oh and a note on the so-called 3d effects, not sure about the rest who saw the movie, but I think the only noticable 3d effects were an after thought and I didn’t really notice them at all after the first 10-15 minutes. The trailer for RE: Afterlife on the other hand had way better 3d effects in its’ 2 minutes than did Airbender.
Continuing to play EVE Online, one of the things I’m enjoying lately is that at any moments notice while out in the deep dark vastness of space my ship could be destroyed, I could die. This keeps a certain edge while you are out doing missions, or mining. However there’s nothing better when you are in a fleet working together, we had 8 of us flying together over the weekend and at those times I’m just hoping a retard warps in and tries to do something stupid.
Still looking forward to large fleet battles!

[EDIT #2] – The Last AirBender deserves to die in a burning puppy mill.
Ok, so barely survived the diaper party! Was a great time with lots of food and beer, though Monday at work was rough, not from a hangover but from being so damn tired. Use to be a day when I would party till 6, wakeup at 7 and be at work for 8 all the while falling out of the shower, dropping said girl off at her house and not hitting anything on the way to work. AH to be in the early 20′s again!
To go back a bit, Saturday night JB (code for lady friend) came over and had the intentions of just watching a movie, but somehow she found The Bachelorette on TV and we watched that for 2 hours. Now I’m not big on reality TV but this train wreck of so called ‘reality’ was interesting for the simple dynamics at play. ie 1 hottie has 15 guys living together all going after her to win her heart. Some of these idiots think it’s also about being friends with the other 14 guys. All I can say to those guys are ‘you are fucking stupid’, yes you live with them, so you have to tolerate them, but they aren’t going to be your bro’s nor are you ever going to see them again once the hottie kicks you out.
Plus the shit is pretty well scripted for them to speak from teleprompters for christ sakes.
Did get to see Crazyheart the movie afterwards, and it was pretty good for a drama. Story is basically, old country singer who’s a complete chain smoking drunk doesn’t want to write songs so he ends up playing shit holes like a bowling alley and ends up scoring the ugliest fan I’ve had the displeasure of seeing. My eyes are still burning. Anyways he meets cute reporter girl, falls for her, fucks up by losing her young son at a aquarium while he was trying to get a drink at the bar. Wish I knew some aquariums that had full bars. So she dumps him and goes back home, he gets right rotted drunk again, tries to call estranged son from one of his previous 5 marriages and son pretty much tells him to DIAF.
He gets an epiphany and wants to get sober, cut to the manicured fake stream and woods, he’s sober like magic. He then proceeds to tour with a younger version of himself and make all kinds of money and writes the big smash hit ‘Crazyheart’ based on his relationship with said cute reporter though he never does rehookup with her. Cue the end of the movie.
Bunch of shit an drama I’m missing here but you get the point. If you don’t go see it.
Sunday should be quite an adventure, one of my best friends over the last 12 years is having a diaper party for his first born, a son! A heartfelt congrats to Randy on his upcoming addition to his family, of all the people I’ve known over the years Randy is one of the best. Anyways back to the party bit, should be a great crowd people from PEI and NS are coming up for it and mass mayhem will likely ensue at his pool side party! Just hope the fucking rain doesn’t come.
EVE Online, recently Mark and I have been playing around in this game as a break from the usual and so far have been really enjoying it. It’s a lot more of a free world than I had anticipated with the ability to do what you want at your fingers tips at any time in most cases. The ability to improve your toon while offline is a huge bonus and adds to the depth of the game.
It’s learning curve is huge, there’s some training missions aka the kiddie pool, but once you finish those it’s into the deep ocean for you laddie! The ever frequent potential to be attacked by other players adds a bit of tension of the game otherwise missing from others. Still learning about the other aspects such as missioning (pve stuff) and wormholes, though pvp so far has been fun, but no success so far I am 0-5 in the ships killed vs ships lost…. but damn it’s fun! The team aspect of being part of a corporation cannot be over looked especially when adventuring into lowsec or nullsec.

I should likely explain the DIAF (Die in a Fire) title. It’s a bit of an inside joke at work, but when someone gets me really annoyed instead of saying your typical curse word or selection of other insults its the one I tend to use most. Figured if I was going to assault the internet with my ramblings what better name than DIAF. =)
